3 technological transformations of the sector will have a positive impact on manufacturers, users, but also on our environment.

1. IMPLEMENTATION OF AUTONOMOUS TRAINS

Automation makes it possible to optimise the speed of trains and therefore to better harmonise traffic. This results in: improved punctuality, reduced energy consumption, smoother traffic and therefore greater traffic capacity.

With autonomous trains, new skills will be expected, and new professions could develop: supervisors for train monitoring, remote drivers, tele-convenience stores, etc.

2. HYDROGEN TRAINS

Replacing highly polluting diesel trains with hydrogen-powered convoys is one of the major trends emerging in the rail sector.

Equipped on their roofs with fuel cells powered by hydrogen stored in gaseous form and oxygen from the air, these trains can thus find the energy necessary for their traction and the supply of their equipment on board. 3. IMPLEMENTATION OF A NEW CONNECTED TRAIN TECHNOLOGY TO PROMOTE PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE

On the one hand, when a train is not equipped, IoTs are installed. The IoT “Internet of Things” is a term that refers to a system where physical objects are connected to the Internet. These connected sensors make it possible to collect the data that interests us.

On the other hand, when a train is already equipped with data on their network and 3G or 4G SIM cards to carry out predictive maintenance operations, this innovative solution is then extended to new parts of the train.

Remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance make it possible to halve the number of failures. These new technologies simply make it possible to improve everyday transport.

Thanks to the predictive maintenance of the pantograph, it will no longer be necessary to climb on the roof of the train, and therefore to immobilize it to carry out the checks. Similarly, thanks to a number of new settings, it is now possible to know precisely the state of the batteries.
